Children Project

The burden of caring for orphans and other vulnerable children (OVC) in Uganda continues to be overwhelming.  Nearly ten million people are considered to be living in poverty and about two thirds of these people are below the age of eighteen (about 6.6 million).  Out of 16.8 million children, 7.5 million or 46 per cent are experiencing child poverty.  The burden of looking after orphans coupled with limited economic activity has put a lot of stress on older persons and impoverished them to an extent of destitution. (Uganda National Development Plan 2010/11 – 2014/15)

Imani Milele Children, an organization under Gospel Messengers therefore started in 1989 when Pr. Moses Ssemanda Mbuga was compelled to help 3 orphans in the suburb of Lusaka zone VI, Makindye. Today over 3000 Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) benefit from its original vision of developing highly regarded, socially vibrant and self-sustaining citizens impacted with Christian values, transforming society.

In 2003, The Imani Milele Children’s Choir was formed with 20.  Through its craft of music, dance and drama, it promotes and increases awareness to the plight of orphaned and vulnerable children in Uganda, Uganda’s wonderful cultural values as well as showcasing the beauty and breath-taking experience of living in Uganda.  The choir has had opportunities to minister in different churches, theatres, public and government functions both in Uganda and the USA in its 'Rhythm of Hope' US Tour 2013.  The choir is currently in preparation for another US Tour 2014.  To know more about Imani Milele Childen, please visit its website on:  www.imanimilele.com.

Social Welfare

We are focused on setting up community based programs that benefit children, families, and the entire community.  Building schools for the needy, orphanages, and institutions where people can be trained in different trades and vocations.

Agriculture/ Farm Project

Orange plantation at the farmIn direct response to the rising number of disadvantaged children and orphans who are not catered for by the available social support systems, Gospel Messengers in partnership with Impact Ministries International came up with the idea of establishing a farm project to provide additional support (for example food) to the vulnerable children within the ministry.

Its mission is “To utilize modern agricultural methods and techniques to sustainably promote the living conditions of disadvantaged children and orphans.”

It’s located in Mityana District, Kiryookya Parish, Bukoola village on a 100 aches piece of virgin land making it ideal for both commercial cultivation and animal raring.

Health Care

  • Gospel Messengers provides medical services to communities with qualified medical personnel.
  • Sensitization about health matters such as nutrition and hygiene among others.

  • Provide HIV/AIDS counseling and those affected by trauma due to wars.

National Resource Development for Sustainability

Borewell waterGospel Messengers recognizes that there are various resources in Uganda that can be enhanced and utilized for sustainable development. We focus on empowering communities in different ways to enable them to utilize these natural resources.

In most rural areas of Uganda, water is scarce.  Most of these areas lack clean water.  It was a heart-breaking experience to see people walking for miles and miles to fetch water only to get dirty water that is not good enough for human consumption.  In a bid to bridge this gap, Gospel Messengers Ministries reached out to positively impact lives of the communities by drilling sustainable boreholes/borewells.  These boreholes are in the communities of Kitongo, Lugazi, Kamusenene, Rwenjiri, Kassanda, Troas and Lagutu (Gulu).

Bible School

Southern Ohio School of Ministry (SOMA) is a Bible-based school of ministry based in Ohio, USA.  This school partnered with Gospel Messengers thus, opening up a functional school at the church premises in Lusaka Zone VI, Makindye Division, Kampala District in 2008, which has qualified professional Bible Teachers/Tutors.

We offer both certificate and diploma courses in ministry.  Certificate courses run for 1 year while the latter is for 2 years.  We are a practical based school of ministry aiming at equipping the saints for effective ministry at the most affordable cost.  The school does not only give head knowledge but the lives of the students are forever transformed into people of worthy character.   We take in students who are personally committed to faith in Jesus Christ and are ministers in their respective churches.
